Described as “a modern, minimalist hangout,” The Otheroom in Venice, CA, offers draft brews and wine in an open interior with lots of shadowed hidey holes scattered throughout for more intimate chats. According to long-time general manager Alex Ramclam, The Otheroom, which also caters events, has been in the same location for the past 14 years. Beginning next week, the meet-and-greet bar has partnered with its neighboring restaurant, “The Butcher’s Daughter,” and plans to offer a full vegan menu to its clientele. Staff at The Otheroom will take food orders and zip them over to the kitchen just next door via their iPads. “The Butcher’s Daughter” staff will fill the food orders, send them a door away to The Otheroom, and voila! Dinner is served.

The Otheroom in Venice is open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., seven days a week, in keeping with their thirsty client’s schedules. General manager Alex was excited that they will soon begin serving food to hungry Venice patrons. As a matter of fact, he mentioned that food is already served in their Las Vegas location in Caesar’s Palace. Described as “a trendy haunt,” the Las Vegas Otheroom offers gourmet small plates, along with craft beer and house cocktails. New York’s Otheroom, by the way, has “a hideaway vibe” which will appeal to folks looking for the dark and intimate.

The Otheroom in Venice has reportedly been voted the #1 bar and date place in Venice Beach. A smiling couple proudly announced that this was their first date after meeting online – and they chose The Otheroom to spend a few precious hours. According to The Otheroom internet sites, each of The Otheroom locations is cozy, intimate, and a good place to chat. There was a young vibe to the Venice location, and everyone seemed to be having the time of his life passing the minutes with good cheer and a glass of something special.

On the night of the review, The Otheroom was having a wine and donut tasting gala featuring Rutherford Hill Chardonnay, Chen(in) Chenin Blanc, and Moscato. And let’s not forget the real maple bacon and chocolate almond ganache donuts from “Blue Star” across the street to add just the right dollop of sweetness to the tangy wines. For those who crave a neighborhood bar with class, The Otheroom will meet your needs and then some. It’s a bar that caters to the young and the young-at-heart. A place to meet, greet, and mingle. And now that they will be serving food, it will also be a place to grab a tasty bite between sips.

It’s true that the service might be spotty, but it’s probably par for the course at all the neighboring bars as well. Also, The Otheroom seems to be a place which caters to the over-21 millennial crowd. If you’re over 30 – or, on the outside, 40 – you might want to seek another spot for your libation.
